I just discovered a weird spoonie hack: if you ever question whether or not you’re faking a symptom try actually faking it for a minute, obviously not to trick people just do it when you’re by yourself.
I’ve been having weird leg spasms for a while now. Docs have accused me of faking it and I started to doubt myself, so I tried doing it intentionally. And guess what, it’s actually physically impossible to move my leg like that on purpose.
It gave me a lot of peace of mind, so I thought I’d share it.
I needed this. Been struggling a lot lately with feeling like I’m faking it and the inevitable guilt that comes with “What if I really could work?” 😓
I did this with my leg and hip twitches. Faking it genuinely felt like a different kind of movement. Gave me relief because it’s one of the less common symptoms so I thought I was just making myself fit the whole list or something.

Getting a chronic illness/pain diagnosis is like:
Doctor: Good news, you’re not dying! You’re just going to feel like you’re dying. For the rest of your life.
